Spinoza: Logical Atheist

Spinoza demolished the intelligent-design argument for God by noting that, contrary to the theists, the universe does not exhibit order. What it exhibits is (the law of) identity. Each thing is what it is -- it has a specific nature -- and does what it does by virtue of its nature. How else could it be? 

Thus there is nothing else -- such as order -- to explain. Spinoza was a clever guy!
