I'll Miss James "The Amazing" Randi

It's belatedly come to my attention that James Randi, The Amazing Randi, renowned magician, escape artist, author, lecturer, and debunker of the paranormal, died Oct. 20 at the age of 92. The magic and atheist community will miss him badly. I got to known him in the late 1970s, during my days as a small-scale stage magician, when I interviewed him about his work at his home in northern New Jersey. We kept in touch for a while after that. He was a joyous man who loved this life. You can find many YouTube videos featuring him as a lecturer and talk-show guest. They are well-worth watching.

  1. I was a big admirer of Randi. I wish that I could have met him.

I used to pay membership fees to the James Randi Education Foundation. Still have the T-shirt!
