Why did Yahweh create a privileged priestly class, which the rest of the Israelites were regularly obliged to feed under the pretext of animal and grain sacrifices to the Almighty? Why didn't the exploited Israelites figure out the scam?

If Yahweh finds "unclean" and "defective" people and animals so icky (Leviticus 21: 16-24), why did he create them?

Why would an omnibenevolent God repeatedly harm and kill innocent people via collective punishment, such as the great flood, the terrifying destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, the 10 plagues in Egypt, and the bloody conquest of Canaan?

Isn't it weird that Yahweh was willing to absolve the Israelites of at least some sins as long as they slaughtered animals and poured the blood around the altar? Why not just ask for a heartfelt apology? All-knowing Yahweh would spot insincerity.

Why didn't Yahweh punish or at least admonish Abraham for being ready and willing to sacrifice Isaac to him? In thinking about that, keep in mind that Yahweh cited child sacrifice as a reason for commanding the Israelites to slaughter every Canaanite, children included, in the Promised Land.
